Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park is a compact and remarkably diverse safari destination located near Arusha city. Its landscapes range from the forested slopes of Mount Meru to the Momella Lakes, open grasslands and the striking Ngurdoto Crater. The park is home to giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, bushbucks, warthogs, blue monkeys and the distinctive black-and-white colobus monkey. Its lakes also attract flamingos and numerous other bird species. Visitors can explore Arusha National Park through scenic game drives, guided walking safaris and canoeing on the Momella Lakes. Although the park has fewer large predators than Tanzania’s better-known safari destinations, its beautiful scenery and variety of activities make it an excellent introduction to the country’s wildlife. It is also ideal for a day trip at the beginning or end of a longer Tanzania safari.
