Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater is one of Tanzania’s most remarkable wildlife destinations and the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Its fertile crater floor supports a dense concentration of animals, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, zebras, wildebeest and several antelope species. It is also one of Tanzania’s best places to search for the endangered black rhinoceros. A descent into the crater offers spectacular scenery and rewarding wildlife viewing within forests, open grasslands, wetlands and around Lake Magadi. Beyond the crater, the wider Ngorongoro Conservation Area brings wildlife conservation and Maasai pastoral life together in the same protected landscape. Ngorongoro is a memorable part of Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit and combines perfectly with Serengeti, Tarangire and Lake Manyara.
